Welcome to Year One. This is an exciting and busy year as we transfer our learning from Reception. We aim to be more independent learners so have lots of routines to help us. We love using the “work planner” to decide which area of the classroom we will work in. Reading is really important in Year One so we take home reading books every day and change them regularly. We have homework each week and celebrate our work in class. We have different topics throughout the year and we get to choose what we learn about by writing down our “big ideas”. As a year group, our goal is to have fun and take the lead in our own learning.
Our teachers are Miss Claridge (Amber Class), Miss Bosley (Gold Class) and Miss Matthews (Orange Class)
During phonics sessions, we often use Phonics Play to recap our skills. Please click the link to play at home!
What we've been doing:
Gold Star Silver Star Challenge
1st March 2017
Congratulations to Rosie (Amber), Ella (Orange) and Ariella (Gold) for winning the Challenge, which was to alternately borrow a story book (gold star) then an information book (silver star) as many times as they could over the spring term. They all won a signed copy of “Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam. The Spooky School.” The runners up won gold medals & book marks. Well Done!
