Inclusion > Able Pupils
Class teachers and our Assessment Leader identify pupils who are gifted and talented in one or more subject areas. These children are given challenging and motivating tasks in order to extend their learning. In Year 5 and 6, children who are targetted to achieve Level 6 in their end of Key Stage 2 SATs are given additional Literacy and Numeracy lessons.
We have excellent links with the local secondary schools and we encourage able pupils to take part in extended learning opportunities at these secondary schools.
For our gifted sports boys and girls, our school is part of the MSN Games Association who organise a wide range of tournaments, festivals and competitions across the county at a range of venues. Our Year 6 football team are part of a league who play 8 other schools across the academic year. We also take part in several other sports including: Dance Umbrella KS1 and KS2, Swimming Gala, Mini Tennis, Tag to Twickenham, Cross Country, Athletics, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, Kwik Cricket and Rounder’s.
Please read our Able Pupils policy for further information regarding the suport and opportunities available to our Able Pupils and Gifted and Talented students.
'Teachers work together to check if pupils are doing as well as they should. They set ambitious targets for each pupil, making sure these pave the way for good progress. Targets are shared with pupils so everyone is clear about what is expected'
